EMPOWERING CT FAMILIES

HFA'S APPROACH TO IMPROVING FAMILY DYNAMICS AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

HFA offers FREE, confidential home visits and support for families from pregnancy until the child reaches three years old. We provide sessions in English, Spanish or Creole, right in your home or community.
Data has shown that HFA participation results in fewer adverse childhood issues and improved academic performance. Early involvement with HFA leads to healthier birth rates, fewer developmental complications, and reduced instances of child neglect and abuse.
HFA's strength lies in its in-home support, fostering a safe, nurturing environment and strong parent-child bonds. We believe in building relationships even before birth, as children can hear while still in the womb. By educating expectant mothers about prenatal care and healthy parenting, we enhance the child’s prospects for success. HFA is dedicated to child development and setting long-term goals for the family unit, thereby reducing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

HFA’S POSITIVE IMPACT

PROVEN SUCCESS IN CHILD ABUSE REDUCTION AND FAMILY EMPOWERMENT

HFA has demonstrated positive impacts on children and families, notably in reducing child abuse and neglect. This evidence is supported by a range of independent studies, including randomized control trials and quasi-experimental research. These studies consistently show that HFA participation leads to a decline in child maltreatment. The program's key benefits include improved school readiness, decreased child abuse and neglect, enhanced family functioning and self-sufficiency, along with extensive health advantages.

At HELP for KIDS, providing mothers with important information on child care, development, and more is an integral part of our mission.

how it works

PROVIDING NEW CT MOTHERS WITH ESSENTIAL PARENTING TOOLS

At HELP for KIDS, we meticulously craft baskets filled with vital resources for mothers, including informational brochures on National Exchange Club topics, HELP for KIDS programs, and more. Each basket also contains a copy of the book 'What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing' by Bruce D. Perry and Oprah Winfrey, along with a children's health and grooming kit, and our 'national spokesbear,' the Time-Out Teddy that spreads the message of good parenting nationwide. These baskets are gifts for mothers in our programs, aiding them in their new journey of motherhood.

Your donation can help us provide these essential, comforting baskets to all new mothers working with our dedicated team of social workers. Please consider making a difference today!
