TRANSFORMATIVE STORIES FROM OUR CT COMMUNITIES

Ms. Z expressed gratitude for the diapers, wipes, and gift cards she has received during her participation in the home visiting program. She reported that with one income, finances can be a challenge and receiving these resources meant security for her family! Mom reported that by saving the money she would have been spending on diapers and groceries, she used to cover other expenses which would not be possible if she was not receiving the support from Help for Kids. Mom stated that financial stress is a heavy burden and knowing that she does not have to worry about her baby’s diapers gives her a piece of mind and makes her feel very supported by the program. Every time this mom receives diapers, wipes, or grocery gift cards, she thanks her family support specialist with a smile on her face!"

    Story 1

Ms. Y has benefited from the grocery gift cards as well as diapers! Mom communicated that she was able to buy fresh fruits and vegetables that she is not able to obtain from other local programs. Mom has also expressed just how much she has benefited from the diapers Help for Kids provides her with. Ms. Y is grateful that it is one less expense for her family to deal with while searching for employment!"

    Story 2

Ms. R and her family have been in the program since April 2023 when she opened her home to our HFA Home Visiting Program and all the services we have to offer at Help for Kids. Ms. R’s ability to advocate for her children and family have improved since starting in the program. Her willingness to learn about different stages of her baby’s development has made her more present and aware when it comes to the baby. Mr. R, the father, is also more involved and has participated in many home visit meetings and now fully understands the importance of his role in his family!"

    Story 3

Ms. S, a mother of a 7-month-old, has stated, “I want to thank the HFA program and Help for Kids for the support they provide my family with! The diapers, food security and the weekly visits where I can learn to raise my children better and establish a loving bond with them are very important to me. Thank you for this opportunity, I feel very blessed for having this program cross my path!”"
