HELP PROGRAM CT
FOSTERING CHILD SAFETY AND WELL-BEING IN CT
Our Exchange Parent Aid (EPA) program offers home-based support to families. We focus on child safety, health, education, and housing, teaching positive parenting skills and resource navigation to ensure family well-being and reduce out-of-home placements.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
ASSESSING AND ADDRESSING FAMILY NEEDS
Utilizing the evidence-backed National Exchange Club model, our home-based Exchange Parent Aid (EPA) program centralizes family needs. Our Parent Educators assess vital areas, including child safety, health, education, and housing. The program emphasizes teaching positive parenting skills to safeguard children's well-being, reducing the necessity for out-of-home placements due to neglect or abuse. Additionally, it guides families in accessing community resources for sustained support post-program completion.
OUR TEAM
THE ROLE OF SOCIAL WORKERS IN PREVENTING CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT
Our social workers, professionally trained and supervised, deliver supportive and educational in-home services to families at risk of child abuse and neglect. Serving as mentors, they provide intensive support, impart crucial information and model effective parenting strategies — all within the family's home environment.
OUR FOCUS
THE PURPOSE OF OUR FAMILY-CENTERED PROGRAM
- We bolster parental resilience by teaching problem-solving skills, modeling effective parenting, and offering round-the-clock support and service referrals.
- We enhance knowledge of parenting and child development through skill sharing, strategy modeling and providing individualized in-home assistance with children.
- Social connections are nurtured through social support, personal relationship building, and facilitating connections to other parents via group meetings, activities and referrals.
- We develop children's social-emotional competence by strengthening the family's nurturing capabilities, monitoring parent-child interactions and modeling supportive behaviors.
- We ensure child safety by addressing medical, dental, and mental health needs, ensuring safe housing, and protecting against child abuse, neglect and domestic violence.
